Quebecois

Some in Quebec are up in arms about a Canada Day dinner invitation to the Canadian embassy in Washington DC having a picture of Samuel de Champlain holding a poutine. Jean-Paul Perreault, the president of Imperatif français wants Harper to apologize for what he feels was the embassy's contemptuous and unacceptable behaviour. I agree. What the hell were they thinking putting the francophone founder of Quebec on the invitation? What does that have to do with Canada Day? I want Harper to apologize for the embassy putting someone who does not represent me as a Canadian in the material for our Canada day invitations. Put Wolfe on there. See how Quebec feels about that!

All I know is that Mr. Perreault has simply encouraged me, and hopefully you too, to look for this picture, and take a dimmer view of Quebec culture. If there is really something wrong with the pamphlet, it is the horrible photoshop job. Poutine is worth protecting. I’m just not so sure about the rest of Quebecois culture.
