Cell Phone Flip Flop
I’ve changed my mind on cell phones in planes. In all fairness to me, it’s because I have more facts now than I did before. As many of you may know, the Economist is the source of all that is good and true in the world, and they had an article this week on initial trials of cell phones in planes. Clearly I misunderstood how this program operated. I thought it would just be a free for all once the plane was in the air. I should have realized that there was more to it than that. Turns out that the airlines will charge $2.50 a minute for the privilege of using your phone in the plane. At that rate, I can’t imagine that I will have to put up with much in the way of inane conversation. Still, I can only imagine how satisfying it would be to distract someone from a real conversation by talking to myself while they are paying $2.50 a minute!

Boo!
I already have to pay $7 for a coffee while I'm waiting for my flight...
