A brief article in China Daily about checkpoint guards being knifed to death in Xinjiang. I wish there was a bit more in terms of details, but I think it’s still worthy of comment. I was thinking that it’s pretty sad to think that multiple guards were overpowered by knife wielding assailants. I can only imagine that it’s because they either didn’t have guns, or their training was so poor that they were unable to use them to overcome much less well armed attackers.
Just a little story to remind us that despite China's massive economic boom and rapidly modernizing military, China isn’t always as big and scary as people make it out to be.
