Real Evil

This is probably the best argument I have read against private prisons. This is frightening for a number of reasons. First of all, these two judges clearly lacked the moral character to be lawyers, let alone judges. They caused severe damage, if not the destruction of the lives of the kids they sent away improperly. Potentially worse than all of this is that they have no doubt shaken the faith of many people in America’s justice system. Trust in our laws is perhaps the most important aspect of Western society, and if they can be so callously manipulated, I think we are in even more trouble than we acknowledge.

Anyway, I’m all in favour of the penalty being proportional to the crime, so lets send these judges to Russia, or maybe Iran for sentencing. I’m sure their shock at that realization, and the accompanying sentence would deter others.
